Imprint & VAT Check
Business websites in Germany, Austria and Switzerland usually carry a legal notice (Impressum) that names the company behind them. This actor finds that page for each domain and returns one row per website: legal name and form, address, register number, VAT ID, e-mail, phone and social profiles, each row with its status, source page and check time. EU VAT IDs are checked live against the EU's VIES service; Swiss UIDs are outside VIES, and for German VAT IDs VIES confirms validity without the registered name. No domain list? Search by trade and city via OpenStreetMap instead.
Run on Apify $5.00 per 1,000 websites (from $2.50) + $0.01 start fee per run
What you get
- Legal name, legal form and address from the legal notice
- Register number: HRB or HRA in Germany, Firmenbuch (FN) in Austria, UID (CHE) in Switzerland
- EU VAT IDs checked live against VIES; a VIES outage is reported as unavailable, never as invalid
- E-mails, phones, fax and social profiles
- A status per row: found, not found, or an error with its cause (blocked, JavaScript only, timeout, unreachable, no DNS)
- Duplicate entries are merged into one row
- Find businesses by trade and city via OpenStreetMap

$5.00 per 1,000 websites (from $2.50) + $0.01 start fee per run
Billed by Apify: a start fee per run, charged per GB of memory, plus an amount for every stored website row – including rows that report a blocked site, a timeout or no legal notice; the status says which. Not charged: duplicate entries, entries that are not a website and websites the run did not reach. Cheaper on paid Apify plans.
Weekly quality check
Every Sunday an automated watchdog runs the live actors on Apify with fixed inputs whose correct answers are known, and checks the content of the results — not only whether the run succeeded. The results are published here as they are, failures included.
First public check on 25 Oct 2026. Until then this page lists what will be checked.
Sample against the original source: On 12 Oct 2026 we took 20 result rows and compared 164 field values one by one with the original source: 136 matched (82.9%).
FAQ
What is an Impressum?
The legal notice on German, Austrian and Swiss business websites: who runs the site, where the company is registered and how to reach it.
Are person names included?
Managing directors and other named persons are off by default; switch on include_person_names to get them. Sole proprietorships often trade under the owner's name. In our sample of 12 October 2026, one owner's name came through from the VIES register although person names were off – a known error.
How accurate is the data?
In a sample of 20 rows compared by hand with the source pages on 12 October 2026, 136 of 164 fields matched (83 %). Of the values the actor delivered, 136 of 143 were correct; most misses were values the legal notice shows but the actor did not pick up.
What are the known limits?
Pages drawn only by JavaScript are not read – the row says so. A site that refuses automated requests is read through Apify's Web Fetch (start page and legal notice, at most 3 pages, billed by Apify on your account); if that fails too, the row says blocked. Swiss UIDs cannot be checked against VIES, and Germany's VIES answer confirms validity only, without the name.
